Love Somebody
(copyright 2003, Amanda Bland)

broken cry heard far away
moments not long passed
silence like the break of day
communication crashed

Some say time heals
some say time is money
but I say time is all we have to love somebody
oh, to love somebody

Hole in the wall, mascara stains
on a bedroom pillowcase
souvenirs remember pain
and tears mark up your face

Some say time heals
some say time is money
but I say time is all we have to love somebody
oh, to love somebody

Some say time heals, (yeah)
some say time is money
but I say time is all we have to love somebody
oh,
Some say time heals
some say time is money
but I say time is all we have to love somebody
oh, to love somebody
to love somebody

Even though it's listed as a Country song, oddly enough I think this is the least Country-sounding and most pop-y of the songs you have here.

This is more of a finished product in a lot of ways, so I don't have suggestions as such. I'll just say why I think it works so well.

First, your chorus is brilliant in the way it plays on common sayings and offers a new way to think of time. The verses are a little more abstract, but are clear enough to communicate heartbreak or disagreement, and then the chorus brings it home with its homespun wisdom and perspective.

Second, the music may be a tad on the formulaic side, but there's a reason the formulas exist. That's nothing to be ashamed of here, it fits the character of the song very well.

Lastly, this track benefits from a more complete instrumental arrangement and production, which really helps bring across the unity of the song as well as the contrast between its parts.

I could slow-dance to this one, 'nuff said. :)
